Albany County Demonstrates the Power of Smarter Healthcare Savings

The County Executives of America (CEA) is proud to highlight another real-world example of how counties can deliver meaningful savings for taxpayers while continuing to provide high-quality healthcare benefits for employees.

Albany County and County Executive Daniel McCoy, a proud member of the CEA, recently announced that through the County’s partnership with Health Insurance Solutions, Inc. (HISI), Albany County has saved more than $35 million in prescription drug benefit costs over the past five years — all without sacrificing service or care for employees. In addition, Albany County projects another $13 million in savings on employee medical benefits through the end of this year.

As healthcare and prescription costs continue to rise nationwide, partnerships like the one between CEA and HISI are helping counties identify innovative strategies to reduce expenses, protect taxpayers, and strengthen employee benefit programs.

This is exactly the kind of value the County Executives of America works to bring to counties across the country every day.
